Using a combination of instructional screening videos, photos, and case presentations, attendees will leave with actionable steps to implement a comprehensive screening. Attendees will gain an understanding of how screening for oral cancer, myofunctional disorders, and sleep-disordered breathing can be achieved simultaneously.

10:00 - 11:00 AM

A Revolution in Children’s Dental Evolution: How to Influence Children’s Oral Health Without a Scaler

Joy Lantz

Dentistry has evolved in the past to including oral-systemic links.  Currently, the focus is on sleep, airway and myofunctional therapy.  There is one group that has been left to the wayside; the infant and toddler population.  We are missing a big link to future problems by waiting on seeing these children. The future of dental hygiene and oral health is early disease prevention before needing a scaler. You will never think about your job the same. Instead of dreading seeing young kids on your schedule, you will see these as the most important appointments of the day knowing you are impacting these children’s oral health and future.

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Look Before You Leap: Avoiding Common OMT Pitfalls

Angie Lehman

OMT as a career path for RDHs is trending right now! Many hygienists have taken a leap of faith and signed up for an Introductory course only to find themselves confused and overwhelmed by information that conflicts with their expectations. This course will give new and prospective RDH/OMTs a strong foundation and solid footing as we explore five common misconceptions about the field of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.
