Karese Laguerre

Karese, like many parents, suffered in silence while her children struggled with the symptoms of undiagnosed sleep and breathing issues. One visit to a pediatric dentist changed the trajectory of their lives. Already a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH), Karese, trained with Sandra Holtzman, Lois Laynee and Sarah Hornsby to establish her orofacial myology knowledge. With this initial training and numerous others, in a few short years she has not only resolved all her children's issues, but helped hundreds of patients, children and adults alike, discover how great life can be functioning on full. Her private practice, The Myo Spot, is now a leader in the quest for myofunctional therapy awareness and public education. Her latest published book, "Accomplished", delves into how to sleep better, eliminate burnout, and execute goals. Karese's mission is to transform and positively impact as many households as possible through dynamic breath, brain and body work.

Becca Rose

When Becca learned about Myofunctional Therapy, the "AH HA" moment happened. She realized that this was the missing piece to some of the symptoms she had experienced in her life. She also sees the same symptoms in her own child who is on an Airway journey of his own. Since then, she has improved many of her own myofunctional and airway concerns.

She has gained significant knowledge and experience by having the great privilege to work as an Associate Myofunctional Therapist for several well-known Myofunctional Therapy Practices since she completed her first course in early 2021. This has allowed for mentorship and collaboration with some of the most respected professionals in the field. Her quest for knowledge and education never ceases! She is honored to be a member of the IAAH Board and is excited to do her part to help move our field in a forward direction.

In addition, she owns her own practice, Myofunctional Pathways, LLC and is a Myofunctional Therapist, Certified Buteyko Breathing Instructor, Sleep Coach and Registered Dental Hygienist. Since a very young age, Becca has exhibited an interest in oral health and dental topics. She has been in the dental field since 2004.

Tara Peterson

Tara spent over two decades as a dedicated dental hygienist. While deeply committed to dental hygiene, Tara discovered a newfound passion for myofunctional therapy. This journey began when she sought assistance for her two daughters, both grappling with common ailments that,
unfortunately, were overlooked by traditional medicine or dismissed as something they would outgrow. She would soon learn that these ailments her daughters were suffering from were the results of myofunctional dysfunctions.

Realizing that her daughter's ailments were linked to myofunctional dysfunctions, Tara immersed herself in the world of myofunctional therapy. Motivated by a desire for holistic solutions, she pursued education under the guidance of Sandra Holtzman, Sarah Hornsby, and Neo-Health Services associates. In 2019, Tara embarked on her practice journey, culminating in
the establishment of Myology in 2020.

As a dedicated learner, Tara remains active in her professional community (dental and myofunctional therapy), becoming a member and later a board member of the IAAH. She is also a member of AAPMD, AAOSH, Airway Circle, and a Certified Buteyko Breathing Instructor.
Through continuous education and a commitment to myofunctional therapy, Tara continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients and family.

When she's not enriching her knowledge or serving her patients, Tara cherishes moments with her husband, Matt, and their two daughters, Aidyn and Kenzie. Together, they enjoy traveling, watching movies, playing with their three dogs, and spending quality time as a family.

Sarah Davis

Event Coordinator

Events@myIAAH.org

Sarah graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 2012 with a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene. She has worked in the dental field since 2009. The original motivation to seek out further education was inspired by becoming a mother and wanting more for her children. As a dental hygienist, your options are somewhat limited outside of clinical dental hygiene. One afternoon, while having a conversation with coworkers, myofunctional therapy was suggested as a possible path to take. The rest is history. From that point on, she was taking courses, researching, talking about, thinking about all things myofunctional therapy and airway. It illuminated issues happening in her own home with her children. Talk about passion! What wouldn’t a mother do for her children?

Once you learn about MFT, you cannot unlearn it and it is SO important. The dentist she works for could not agree more. They continue to spread the word about airway, tongue ties, orofacial myofunctional disorders, and how we can all help. Sarah continues to seek out education and is so excited to be working with the IAAH to make that possible for others as well.

Marie is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with an associate degree in dental hygiene. She has been working in private dental practices as an RDH for 30 years.

Her pathway to be trained in Orofacial myofunctional therapy began with her youngest child’s orthodontist treatment plan of removing 4 teeth. She trained with Sarah Holtzman Basic to Habituation course and then furthered her knowledge by completing The Breathe Institute Myo Mastermind 9-month course. Marie continues to learn and is currently studying Buteyko Breathing, Rosalba Courtney Integrative Breathing Therapy and becoming a QOM. She is a member of AAPMD, IAOM and IAAH.

Marie is lovingly nicknamed Myo Marie by Dr Elizabeth Dy, a TBI affiliate and founder of Sleep and Breathing Wellness Center, serving all ages in Tampa Florida and surrounding communities. At SBWC we are an airway-centric wellness center with collaborative partners under one roof supporting our client's wellness journey.

Chairwoman

Chair@myIAAH.org

Amy has been practicing dental hygiene for 25 years. When her brother was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea in 2016, she asked “Why? Why do you have OSA?”

When the doctors did not have the answers, she decided to find them herself. This started her journey into learning about what role hygienists play with airway, breathing, myofunctional therapy, and how it relates to our overall health.

Since then, Amy has been passionate about collaboration with other healthcare providers to treat her clients holistically for better health and wellness. When Amy isn’t practicing dental hygiene or myofunctional therapy, you can find her mountain biking, backpacking, or snowboarding with her family. She enjoys a healthy, active lifestyle. She practices what she preaches.
